» BRIEF HISTORY OF IBASA IJEGUN-EGBA SATELLITE TOWN IN ORIADE LCDA OF AMUWO ODOFIN LGA, LAGOS STATE
LOCATION: IBASA IJEGUN EGBA,is an Awori town located at the southern part of Oriade LCDA Lagos State,it is bounded in the west by IREDE TOWN of IGBANKO Land, and in the south west by IKAARE KINGDOM, in the south by IBESHE KINGDOM, in the south east by ILASHE land, in the east by IMORE,in the North East by AMUWO KUJE and in the North by ADO LAND.
IBASA IJEGUN-EGBA, is situated on the Island of one of the Badagry Creek's.
HISTORY: IBASA IJEGUN-EGBA LAND was founded by AJIBADE AGBOJOJOYE around the sixteenth century. Ajibade Agbojojoye who was a Royal lineage from Ile Ife, migrated with his wife Omiremilekun, to Benin to leave with his sister, and later proceeded to Iddo in lagos state, from Iddo they moved to Mahun,he spent some time before moving to Matin (idi mangoro) now known as NAVY GATE. He proceeded to a place called omi eleso, and he settled down and form an hamlet there which became IJEGUN-EGBA today. Ajibade Agbojojoye was a man who suffered loss of child at birth (Abiku). HE also begat a son in IJEGUN-EGBA, who also died before naming and the child was burried in a place called OGUN shrine in IJEGUN-EGBA LAND.
AGBOJOJOYE then consulted the oracle and he was instructed to move across the river. In obedience to the oracle, he and his people moved to the shore of the lagoon and he made a sacrifice to the goddess of the river, and crossing the lagoon, he name the place"IBA OOSA" which is known as IBASA till date. On getting to Ibasa, Agbojojoye make another Ogun shrine by the order of the Oracle, so that death of child can desisted from him, because the oracle have formerly said Ibasa is a land of peace, therefore he called the Ogun, (Ogun ti a be fun Esu) which is known as OGUN IBESU shrine in Ibasa till date, and that place is a sacred place where all Agbojojoye descendants wear the crown (Enu owa). On the seventh day of the creation of Ogun Ibesu shrine, He AGBOJOJOYE went back to Ijegun to appease the Ogun, and they said we are going for ije ogun, which is coined to Ijegun,
Agbojojoye begat two sons that survived him, they are (1)Ikujenrantemi (2)Adeyemi.
AJIBADE AGBOJOJOYE came to Ibasa with the following Deities known as: Oro, Egungun or Eegun, Elegba, Iyewa-alaolu, Alale, Esu, Iroko, Sango and Obaluaye.
POPULATION: Today IBASA IJEGUN-EGBA which house the popular SATELLITE TOWN has a population of almost FOUR millions people residing across the Land. The kingdom comprises of the following town and villages:

RULLING HOUSE: There are two Rulling Houses in IBASA IJEGUN-EGBA Land, whuch are entitled to the Stool of Oba of Ibasa Ijegun egba land, viz; Ikujenrantemi and Adeyemi. And from amongst whom a suitable candidate is selected to ascend the throne, whenever it become vacant.
In the past, after the demised of Ajibade Agbojojoye, the following people have ruled the communities,
6.Rasaki Akanji Omoboye.
Rasaki Akanji Omoboye became an approved Baale under Ojo local government in 1993, and he was upgraded to Oba of Ibasa Ijegun egba Satellite town on the 11/02/2001, and he joined his ancestors on the 20/11/2003.
The people of Ibasa Ijegun egba land are Awori of Yoruba Native Nation, and the main spoken dialet is Awori and modern Yoruba common among Lagosians. IBASA IJEGUN-EGBA people share the same culture as the other Yoruba Tribes anywhere in the world. Before the advent of Christianity and Islam, the people of IBASA IJEGUN-EGBA worshiped those goddess earlier mentioned, but now they are mostly Muslim and Christian.
OCCUPATION: IBASA IJEGUN-EGBA people are mostly fishermen and farmer and the main occupation of the women are Mat weaving, fish smoking and petty trading.There main agricultural products are coconuts and fish.There are large coconut plantation belonging to individual Farmers on Agbojojoye Land.
GOVERNMENT/INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT: There is a primary school established in 1958, known as Local Authority Primary school Ibasa. Also a primary school at IJEGUN-EGBA, and a secondary school called SATELLITE TOWN secondary school, satellite town lagos.
