Nwaneri started his career with Arsenal when he was just nine years old. Already playing for their under-18 side when he was just 14 years old, he had a bright future ahead of him. He typically takes positions in the center of the field.
Nwaneri began the 2022–23 season playing for Arsenal’s under-18 team, but because he was in such good form, he was quickly moved up to play for Arsenal’s under-21 team.
He joined the first team for training with Arsenal in September and made his debut Arsenal Premier League match day squad on September 18 for the encounter against Brentford. After the match, he was selected among the match-day substitutes for Arsenal.
His appearance as a substitute at the age of 15 years and 181 days broke the records for the youngest ever Premier League appearance and the youngest ever Arsenal appearance. He was younger than Harvey Elliott’s appearance for Fulham in the Premier League at 16 and 30 days, and he was younger than Jack Wilshere’s debut for Arsenal at 16 years and 256 days.
