Four Nigerians Arrested In India For Herbal Oil scam
The Cybercrime Wing of the Indian police has busted a herbal oil scam by arresting four Nigerians who operated from an apartment in a small rented room in Khargar, Navi Mumbai.
The four suspects Okorie Godswill Chinaza, 32; Uche John Imeka, 47; Godwin Emmanuel, 32; and Eposie Uchenna Stanley, 32; were arrested and brought to Chennai on Thursday for cheating Chennai-based businessman.
Times of India reports that the police sprung into action following a complaint from businessman named Vijayaraghavan, who said he was contacted by a Canada-based company.
He placed a big order for herbal oil and transferred 34 lahks for the product that was meant to be exported to Canada but he didn't get the herbal oil.
The cybercrime wing inspector, Vinoth Kumar, said, The victim purchased 18 litres of oil for 33.3lakh but didnt receive the consignment, which prompted him to lodge a complaint at the cybercrime wing after realising that he has been duped.
Kumar added that the suspects targeted businessmen involved in import and export.
Further investigations are ongoing in the case.
