President-elect Bola Tinubu has responded to President Muhammadu Buhari's recent comment about potentially living in Niger after leaving office. Tinubu stated that wherever the president goes, he should expect criticism and opposition. He made this remark during his speech after receiving the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) award, alongside Vice-President-elect Kashim Shettima.

Tinubu acknowledged the challenges he will face upon assuming office on May 29 and expressed gratitude to President Buhari for the national honor bestowed upon him and Vice-President-elect Shettima. He also commended President Buhari for recognizing the late MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the 1993 election.

In his speech, Tinubu said, "You have done your part, Mr. President. Now, a great duty will descend on me. I understand the meaning of the honor given to me today and the magnitude of the task that awaits me. Whether you go to Daura, Niger, or anywhere, you can expect criticism and opposition."
